ICNIRP Publishes Document on Worker Protection from UV

The International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), together with the ILO and WHO, has recently published "Protecting Workers from Ultraviolet Radiation". The objective of this document is to provide information and advice on protecting workers from ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure. The adverse health effects of both acute and chronic UVR exposures are reviewed, emphasizing solar UVR exposure of the outdoor worker. Epidemiological observations and health consequences concerning exposure to UVR (180-400 nm) are also addressed.
