IRPA Comments on ICRP Draft Report for Consultation: The Use of Effective Dose as a Radiological Protection Quantity

ICRP is now accepting comments on their draft report The Use of Effective Dose as a Radiological Protection Quantity. The IRPA Executive Council identified this report as being of particular interest to the radiation protection profession, and therefore requested that Associate Societies send comments on the draft to IRPA to be consolidated and sent to ICRP.

Eight Associate Societies responded: the Argentinian Radiation Protection Society, German-Swiss Society for Radiation Protection, Italian Association for Radiation Protection, Japan Health Physics Society, Korean Association for Radiation Protection, Romanian Society for Radiological Protection, Spanish Radiation Protection Association, and UK Society for Radiological Protection.

Based on these comments and IRPA’s current positions which relate to the topic, the Executive Council provided a set of general comments to ICRP, as well as forwarding all detailed comments received from the Associate Societies. Like all comments submitted to ICRP, these can be viewed on the ICRP website: http://www.icrp.org/page.asp?id=382.

Thanks to all IRPA members who contributed to this, either through IRPA or directly to ICRP.
