Abstract of the 72nd IRPA Executive Council Meeting, June 2018

Hosted by IRPA Executive Council (EC) Member Marie-Claire Cantone at Milan University, the 72nd EC of IRPA was held in Milan, Italy, on Thursday 21^st and Friday 22^nd June, 2018.

President Roger Coates and the EC members discussed all items on the agenda, including details of the forthcoming IRPA 15 International Congress in Seoul in 2020. IRPA’s officers, the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Executive Officer, Vice-President for Congress Affairs, and Publications Director presented and commented on their activities of the past year.

Key discussions included topics such: as regional representation on the IRPA Executive Council; IRPA’s radiation protection interests in the medical field; and, IRPA’s engagement in non-ionising radiation, to name just a few. Based on the European NORM Association proposal, it was decided to establish a joint TG on NORM in Industry. Finally, in 2019 a final workshop on Radiation Safety Culture in Health Care, in collaboration with WHO-IOMP and IAEA, will be held in the US during the February HPS meeting in San Diego, California.

A total of 29 actions were placed with the EC members, which will be reviewed on a regular basis until the next EC meeting in 2019.

As to the arrangements for the 73^rd EC meeting in 2019, the decision was confirmed to hold it on Thursday 4^th to Saturday 6^th July, 2019, in Orlando, Florida (USA), prior to the HPS 64^th Annual Meeting.
